King Risotto and Queen Banger at Gallarate - VA (Italy).
The character "Re Risotto" (King Risotto") - as well as "Regina Luganeghetta" (Queen Banger, the sausage used in the risotto recipe) - was born in 1995 thanks to Pro Loco association, but refers to historical events taking place in 1754. The pan used to cook "risott e luganeg" (risotto and banger) in the main square of Gallarate is now in stainless steel, 3.3 meter in diameter (11 ft). On Jun 18, 1998 this risotto and pan entered the Guiness World Record being cooked with following recipe in Gallarate: 300 kg rice, 150 kg of sausage and 800 liter of bouillon (broth) thus making 1,600 kg of "risotto e luganega" equal to 5,000 servings, all sold out the same day. Mr Pietro Tenconi is the first King Risotto ever, in Gallarate history. Thanks Pietro, go on like that for ten more years, at least!
