It is the world's smallest and first true pocket-ultrasound system. Slightly larger than a personal digital assistant, and weighing only 1.6 pounds, the ACUSON P10 fits into a lab coat pocket and because of its size, can be used by physicians in places like the Intensive Care Unit, ambulances and MEDEVAC (medical evacuation) helicopters. Instead of having to rush the patient to the technology, doctors say the P10 system brings the technology to the patient. This can save critical minutes, especially when a patient is in cardiac distress and/or with trauma patients, who may have multiple injuries.
Referred to as the "visual stethoscope," the P10 allows doctors to obtain images of the heart and other critical areas in matter of seconds.
The P10 has recently been cleared for marketing by the FDA and is now available for purchase by medical professionals. For more info log onto: www.pocketultrasound.com
