PASAY CITY, Philippines--After slugging it out in media over the Biofuels Act and the Renewable Energy Bill, Senators Miguel Zubiri and Miriam Defensor-Santiago have kissed and made up in time for Valentine's Day. Zubiri gave a large red rose to Santiago, who promptly said there will be no more open public debates, but whispered sweet nothings between them. It was after Santiago said that the Biofuels Act may imperil the country's food security that Zubiri had challenged her to a debate, starting the word war between the two administration senators.
