IDF Automation a global supplier of high tech automated solutions recently completed a project to trim the excess plastic (sprue) from an injection moulded plastic door trim for the new VE Holden motor car. The door trim is loaded into a fixture from by the take out robot clamped into position and then multiple "Nile" cutters with custom made blades neatly trim the part. The nile ctters had to be precisely positioned and adjusted to fit inside a complex fixture that also applied small metal clips. Without the three dimension graphic drawings it would have nbeen very difficult to make this all fit.
