The Dalai Lama commented on Sunday that his aides had undertaken "some efforts" at diplomacy with the Chinese government. He said, however, that no further talks are in the works and that the Tibetan people would be unwilling to make concessions to facilitate such a process. The Dalai Lama explained this by saying that his people had become refugees and had little left to concede. The talks are taking place despite heavy criticism emanating from Beijing. Chinese officials have accused the Dalai Lama of inciting the protests, some of which turned violent, that have been ongoing in Tibet since March 10. This latest Chinese crackdown fueled widespread protests along the Olympic Torch world tour in recent weeks.
