This tutorial video will walk you through the process of installing and configuring vSphere ESXi 4.0 on a Dell PowerEdge 1950 server. VMware vSphere ESXi 4.0 is the most recent bare metal hypervisor released by VMware, Inc. The ESXi line of hypervisors are considered "thin hypervisors" as they do not include a Service Console/Console Operating System. vSphere ESXi comes in two major flavors: vSphere ESXi Embedded, which are hardware memory modules shipped by OEM vendors such as Dell, Compaq, IBM etc.; and, vSphere ESXi Installable, which is distributed by VMware, Inc. as an ISO image that the install CD is created from. This video is based upon the latter of the two.
It should also be noted that vSphere ESXi 4.0 can be downloaded and used for free, with all of the standard functionality that ships with the commercial standalone ESX and ESXi products.
