After successfully completing the Human Genome Project, US National Human Genome Research Institute, NHGRI, announce $1,000 genome project. The project became global competition when X-Prize Foundation has donated $10 million dollars to reach the interim goal. The rapid genome sequencing will soon reach the first goal of $10,000 per genome. Although, the whole genome sequencing may impact the medicine and benefit the scientific communities, there are several ethical issues that must be addressed. There are three major ethical issues covered in the paper, confidentiality issues, psychological aspect of the genetic screening, and genetic discrimination. By reevaluating the $1,000 genome project with ethical issues, it will ensure the value of the project.
