Sahba Motallebi is a graduate of the Tehran Conservatory of Music, where she mastered playing Tar and Setar, under the instructions of Fariborz Azizi, Hossein Alizadeh. She continued her education in Composition at the Conservatory of Saint Petersburg, Russia. For a comparative study of Persian and Turkish music, she attended the RGS University of Turkey. For 4 successive years (1995-1998), Sahba was awarded as the best Tar player in the Iranian Music Festival. In 1999 she joined the Iranian National Orchestra. She has been traveling extensively around the world, performing in major concert halls with some of the most renowned international musicians.
