June 30 2009 Lake County Illinois,Wind NW 9mph. 60 degrees 1st buck 7:05am & bachelor group 7:40pm Hunting Big Illinois Whitetails in velvet with a video camera. With a 30% chance of rain and the temperature dropping a bit I thought it would be a great day to pursue big whitetail bucks. In the morning I still hunted for most of the time and was able to stalk up on a two big bucks. I was able to get a quick sequence of a nice buck I never seen before. He looks like he has good mass and some non typical points. I tried to move in closer, using some brush to shield me but he vanished when I arrived where I last seen him. I was able to stalk within good video distance of a Big 10 point buck and a couple young bucks bedded near a island of the Oaks. The 10 pointer looks like he is going to be BIG! ......
