AMERICANA ROCKER ERNIE HENDRICKSON RETURNS AND IS âWALKING WITH ANGELSâ
NEW ALBUM OF ALL ORIGINAL MATERIAL
PRODUCED BY BO RAMSEY
On Oct. 13, Americana folk-rocker Ernie Hendrickson will unleash a new CD, âWalking With Angels.â Produced by veteran producer Bo Ramsey (Lucinda Williams, Pieta Brown), the album is the sophomore follow-up to Ernieâs 2007 debut, âDown the Road.â The new release features 11 songs written by Hendrickson, and shows him having found his place amongst the finest singer-songwriters.
âWalking With Angelsâ was recorded at Minstrel Recording Studios in Iowa City and mixed by Tom Tucker (Prince, Sting, Johnny Lang, etc.) at Masters Recording Institute in Minneapolis. At producer Ramseyâs urging, Ernie sang and played nearly all of the songs on the record live with a crack band which featured Ramsey, Jon Penner on bass (Junior Brown, Bo Ramsey) and Steve Hayes on drums (Greg Brown, Bo Ramsey). The result is a tight, cohesive heartland sound. From the upbeat and bluesy âNot Much Timeâ to the earnest ballad âIâll Remember Youâ to the rockinâ sing-along anthem âEasy Lovin,ââ the album clearly demonstrates that Hendrickson is one artist to watch in 2009.
Long before he picked up his guitar and took the ride down Highway 90 from Rockford to Chicago, Ernie Hendricksonâs unique brand of storytelling came straight from the heart of Middle America. Since the age of 16 heâs traveled the backroads, playing in a variety of bands in his home state of Illinois and sharing the stage with artists such as Jon Scofield, Leftover Salmon, Jerry Garcia, and many others. His unique blend of old-school country, blues, folk, pop and rock have drawn crowds throughout the region.
Ernieâs debut album âDown the Roadâ was well received by press, garnering him comparisons to everyone from Bob Dylan to Neil Young to Tom Petty. The Illinois Entertainer called it âgroundbreakingâ and JamBase declared Ernie âan artist to watch.â
