VW UP! Lite Concept. Volkswagen has been introducing green vehicles at numerous auto shows in the past few years, and most recently, VW introduced us to its L1 Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, touting it as the âmost fuel-efficient vehicle in the world.â Now they bring to the table the latest in their Up! uber-eco-friendly concepts, the Volkswagen Up! Lite Concept. It hopes to be the âworldâs most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly four-seat car,â sporting a hybrid powertrain matched to a two-cylinder 0.8-liter, 51-horsepower TDI engine with a 13.5-horsepower electric motor fed by a lithium-ion battery. Packing all the high-tech muscle VW says the concept is capable of getting 70 miles per gallon. To follow this editor on Twitter, please visit http://www.twitter.com/kbb_bethlear.
