The original thirteen paintings from my "Burnt Orange" series of paintings, photographs and installations were mounted on a white wall. I then projected distorted video in addition to both complimentary and contrasting colors on each painting. When visually struck by a particularly interesting effect or interaction of the painting with the projected video, I snapped a photograph. Eight different models were recruited to pose in front of the same white wall as my edited video projected upon them. With little or no direction, the models slowly began to naturally interact with the video. Movements ranged from blank stares directly into the camera to provocative spontaneity as the video rolled from frame to frame. Nothing was rehearsed. Most of the time the models could not tell what was projected upon them at a given moment. My only concern was whether a particular photograph captured the apparition of the vibrancy of the color burnt orange. www.jimlivelyart.com
