(1937) Based on the 1936 novel "A Shilling for Candles" by Josephine Tey, this film is about a man (Derrick De Marney) who, on the run from a murder charge, enlists the help of a woman (Nova Pilbeam), who must put herself at risk for his cause. The use of black face by the orchestra in the last act is unfortunate; this was 1937. Nova Pilbeam, Derrick De Marney, Percy Marmont, Director: Alfred Hitchcock.
