Muzaffarabad, PoK, 05 June, 2018: Teachers from across the region of Pakistan occupied Kashmir held a press conference in Muzaffarabad and vented out their anger at both PoK and Islamabad for their deliberate inaction in addressing the acute discrimination they were reeling under for years. People of Pakistan occupied Kashmir including teachers accuse Islamabad of purposely drafting legislation in a manner that discriminates, and keeps them bereft of their rights. The stark difference between the salaries of PoK teachers and other regions is reflective of a step-motherly treatment teachers of the region are constantly subjected to. Teachers, who are bearing the brunt, say that it is a part of a larger conspiracy against the people of the region; Islamabad wants to stifle the voices of teachers as they lead the voice of dissent against Pakistani oppression of the region.
