In case of an emergency mine rescue, this film shows the proper procedure for maintaining and using the self contained oxygen-breathing apparatuses to be used below ground. It shows the types of breathing apparatuses (Paul, Gibbs, Fleuss-Davis, and MC CAA) and their parts (breathing bag, oxygen bottle, regenerator, saliva trap, release valve, and by-pass valve). Care for the breathing equipment is simulated, as is testing procedure for gases during a mine rescue. Caution precedes all, as it is important to remember never to wear the breathing apparatus unless it is properly assembled, charged, and tested.
