Dan Patch was one of the most accomplished racing horses in history, setting numerous world records for speed. The Great Dan Patch is a charming dramatization about this magnificent horse and the loving, good natured people who surrounded him. The owner David Palmer (Dennis O’Keefe) is a chemist with a difficult marriage. Building a relationship with Dan Patch, he also befriends the daughter of Patch’s trainer, the unassailably cute Cissy Lathrop (Gail Russell). A wonderful family film, The Great Dan Patch delights with electrifying races and genuine drama. Patch is, as always, a winner.
