Kentucky Blue Streak is an exciting film that dramatizes horseracing during the 1930s. Star Edward Nugent is a top jockey who’s gearing up to race his best horse Blue Streak in the Kentucky Derby. However, he’s framed for murder leading up to the race by the owners of rival horses! Stuck in jail, the idea of missing the race eats away at Nugent. Nugent plans to escape prison, win the Kentucky Derby, and somehow prove his innocence! How it all happens is a wild ride as Kentucky Blue Streak races to its climactic finish. Director Bernard Ray does a good job with beautiful classic horseracing scenes, soaking up the pomp and flourish of the Kentucky Derby in the 30s.
