CEBU, Philippines--Cell broadcasting is a common yet overlooked feature in today's mobile phones. A team of engineering students for La Salle Bacolod bagged the P500,000 top prize in the recent Smart SWEEP contest for a mobile application they created, which uses cell broadcasting to send disaster-related warnings to subscribers within affected areas.
