Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Tom Kilgore has now testified before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in a hearing on the catastrophic coal ash slide at the TVA’s Kingston power plant in East Tennessee. The billion gallon spill, potentially the worst environmental disaster in US history, blanketed 300 acres in toxic sludge, destroyed homes and contaminated the Emory and Clinch Rivers, sources of drinking water for the area.
