The story deals with AIDS and tries to show a way out to it using an existing method clubbed with a futuristic technology. Post Exposure Prophylaxis is a method which uses ARVs or Anti-Retroviral Therapy. ARVs are given as soon as possible after Exposure to HIV, so that it doesnâÃÂÃÂt spread and infect the body. PEP should be done within 72 hours of the exposure. In the Story we have aimed to combine PEP with Nanotechnology so that I can seamlessly protect the human body from HIV. A small nano robot or device can be injected into the human which has ARV dose. When it senses HIV exposure the dose is released into the blood stream and as an indicator of this the color of the skin changes. Thus safeguarding the person and at the same time alarming him about the exposure so that he could go for further treatment. Thus the combination of an already existing precaution with Nanotechnology can be a boon for the humans. And it also apt with the UN Millennium Goals and the Imagine Cup theme. If we could stop something at the initial stage only wit would be really better as âÃÂÃÂA stitch in Time Saves Nine.âÃÂàPost Exposure Prophylaxis is a treatment which is still unknown to the common masses unlike other HIV prevention methods. It is usually used for people who have regular exposure to HIV like blood needles or like breakage of condom during sex. Post Exposure Prophylaxis needs to be further researched and developed so that it can be handy for everyone and help save lives.
