This is the silent film by "A Page of Madness" by Japanese director Teinosuke Kinugasa best known for his 1953 film "Gate of Hell". The actual plot of the story has been lost, so there is no way to know with any certainty what exactly is happening in the story, but what does happen is very strange and stylized and interesting. I laid in a complete orchestral musical score by Georgian composer Giya Kancheli.
