Elizabeth City, N.C., HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew during the following rescue: NORFOLK, Va. - The Coast Guard rescued the remaining person aboard the disabled sailboat Croc, 100 nautical miles off Cape Lookout, N.C., at 8 a.m., Thursday. Rescue Coordination Center Norfolk watchstanders received a distress signal from the sailboat Croc at 5 p.m., Wednesday. Andrea Tardini, and his passenger Sophie Belend were transiting from Norfolk to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas. An Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C, HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew launched and located the distressed vessel. Tardini stated they were taking on water and requested to be taken off. An MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from the air station arrived on scene at 2 a.m., and hoisted Belend to safety, but due to deteriorating weather conditions they were not able to hoist Tardini at that time. NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Coast Guard evacuated two crewmen from an oil platform approximately 80 miles south of New Orleans, Nov. 9, 2009. The Coast Guard responded to a request to evacuate the men after a lift boat tied to the rig broke loose and damaged a walkway between a berthing platform and the main platform. HOUSTON - The Coast Guard medevaced a 43-year-old male from the motor vessel Sicily, 28 nautical miles southeast of Galveston, Wednesday afternoon. In this video by the Coast Guard, two men are rescued in west Galveston Bay after their vessel was reportedly overtaken by waves Monday. A Coast Guard MH-65C helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Houston diverted to rescue the men after a Sector Houston watchstander receive a call from one of the men's family member shortly after 11 p.m. and reported them in distress. The two men, who left from Hitchcock, were able to contact the family member by cell phone when the incident occured. The family member then contacted the Coast Guard. HOUSTON - In this video released by the tank ship Krymsk response unified command, a DC3 aircraft deploys dispersant to an oil sheen 40 miles off of Galveston Oct. 21, 2009, after an estimated 18,000 gallons of fuel oil were spilled from the Krymsk Oct. 20, 2009. The unified command decided to deploy dispersant after determining that on-water oil recovery methods would not work due to weather conditions. Dispersants are products that are applied to the water surface in order to break up surface oil slicks, a process called dispersion, and facilitate the movement of oil particles into the water column. SAN DIEGO -- Crews from Coast Guard Sector San Diego rescued three people after their 21-foot boat became disabled 27 miles southwest of San Diego Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew spotted the boaters in distress around 10 p.m., and a 33-foot rescue boat from Station San Diego was launched. The boat crew found the boaters experiencing severe sea sickness and dehydration, and transported them to Shelter Island, where they were transferred to Emergency Medical personnel in good condition. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew medevacs a 32-year-old man from the 165-foot Seattle based fishing vessel Bountiful with reported symptoms of pneumonia to the St. Paul clinic, Monday, Sept. 28, 2009.
