simulation of a subspace communication. In an effort to keep the communication tactical, it is only 5 seconds in duration, with a beep to indicate the beginning and end.

this is typically what the sensors do on the leading edge of the tricorder device when initiating a scan, hence the name. Very brief, but this type of scan usually is.

a remake of the first one by this name (error in my graphics, yada yada). A long range scan of planets, meteors, asteroids or whatever your imagination can make fit.
