My Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 was written in 2001. The melody for the second movement was in my mind for a very long time. In fact after I’d written the movement I came across a sketch of the melody that I’d written in the late 1980s. The melody is serene and might recall Satie & Ravel. One might imagine a peaceful dance under the moon and stars on a summer evening. The movement is performed here by Brooke Aird, violin and Miles Graber, piano. The Road Not Taken - for Chorus with Piano, Op. 77 (2001). Here's a performance of my choral setting of Robert Frost's famous poem. It's performed here by the San Jose Symphonic Choir. I strongly identify with this poem, as I can remember a time in my teenage years when I decided to dedicate my life to music - and I've never been sorry. The sheet music is available in a self-published edition (that includes The Pasture) on Amazon.

I Have a Dream, Op. 71 - for Orchestra, Chorus, and Speaker (midi version). I wrote this work in 1988 for a performance that didn't happen. It was eventually performed 12 years ago at Hartnell College in Salinas. In this work (where you'll hear me speaking) I used the second half of MLK's famous speech. I found the gospel he mentions called "Free at Last" and used it in the final chorus. I then combined that song with "We Shall Overcome".

I completed this work on New Year’s Eve, 1987. The translation is: God, have mercy on us – Christ, have mercy on us – God, have mercy on us. I’ve depicted a time of sadness – when someone reaches out to the Creator for comfort. This recording is of a performance in 1988 by Katherine McKalip, soprano and Kathleen Ossmann, piano.
