The Hare and the Tortoise, a classic of Aesop’s fables, is brought to the screen in live-action with real animals! An owl, a rooster, a raccoon, a fox, a goose, a tortoise and a hare are all here, recreating the story in a lively and fun way. Made the in the 1940s, the film ensconces audiences in the warmth and wholesomeness that was only possible in an earlier time. Each live-action animal is a character in the classic contest of speed: the owl is the referee of the race, and fox creates the race course, the goose gossips, and the raccoon tries to wake up the hare so he won’t lose the race. The Hare and the Tortoise is a timeless fairy tale and this vintage film does it justice.

This was Mima Shimoda's first retirement at AtoZ's debut show. To be frank with you, I didn't like the way this retirement played out at all, and I'm glad it didn't last. It starts with AtoZ owner Yumiko Hotta reading a letter from Shimoda's old mentor Akira Hokuto. The retirement ceremony (or so they call it) features not one but TWO matches, one with Ai Fujita, leading into a match with the guest referee of the first match, Jinsei "Hakushi" Shinzaki. Even Etsuko Mita doesn't quite improve things. I hope her 2nd go at a send off will work out better than this one...

The RailHawks didn't help themselves by committing two defensive lapses that gifted Puerto Rico two goals, but they also didn't get any help from the referee as they had 3 legitimate penalty shouts denied in their 2-0 home loss to the Islanders on 07/18/08 at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Martin Nuñez is sent off by the referee in a decision that seems to be completely counter to the USSF Advice to Referees section 13.6 "Ball in Play". It appears that Nuñez believed the Thunder player put the ball in play with his foot but the referee deemed that not the case. The Advice to Referee states clearly -- "referees should not unfairly punish...when an opponent was clearly confused by a touch and a movement"

One of several questionable decisions by the referee on the night, David Stokes is penalized (for what, it's not clear) late in the 2nd half of the RailHawks 3rd Round US Open Cup match against the Kansas City Wizards. Claudio Lopez would convert the ensuing penalty kick to level the score at 2-2 and Kansas City went on to win 4-2 in extra time.

After two years of battling things out over the XCW title Hugh Rogue & Dave the Rave had to settle things in the "Sudden Death" match at XCW's Sudden Death pay per view event. Here is the final battle for all the marbles with the most brutal stipulations ever concocted: The match would take place in a no-rope scenario with dangerous devil's bunkbeds and carribean spider webs at ringside. Fans were allowed to bring weapons to the pay per view, log cabins made of light tubes were already to be placed in the ring along with the powered light tubes with the ballasts powered up. The final stipulation was that the match would fall under Texas death match rules which meant that the winner would have to pin his opponent and the match would only be over if the fallen wrestler could not raise to his feet and answer the referee before a 10 count. From the very same show at the famous Budokan that gave us the Lioness Asuka/Jaguar Yokota techinical clinic, as well as the gritty Devil Masami/Chigusa Nagayo battle, is yet another stunner, featuring Dump Matsumoto and her successor to the heel bitch throne, Bull Nakano taking on the Jumping Bomb Angels (Itsuki Yamazaki and Noriyo Tateno), 2 out of three falls. Oh, and Dump's former cronie (at that point semi-retired) Crane Yu is the referee. Yet again the roof will blow off this bad boy, and that's mainly because of the ever vocal crowd.
