Kshamadan (Part 2) - The quality of Forgiveness The quality of forgiveness has the secret of happiness in life within it, which can't be expressed in words, it can only be felt. Only forgiveness can heal the old wounds of revenge, opposition, bitterness, enmity etc.
This historic event took place about 2600 years before now. This story is about King of Sindh, Udayan's understanding the true nature of forgiveness, and forgiving his enemity with King of Ujjaini, Chandapradyot.
On the Samvatsari day of Parushan Parva (festival) 'a festival of forgiving or friendship' (celebrated in jainism) while seeking forgivness from all lives, he also sought the same from Chandpradyot, his prisoner. In reply Chandpradyot said what's the point in forgiving me, if you really want to then first release me.
On this day King Udayan released his enemy. He condoned all his offenses and embraced him with love. Moved by his greateness, Chandpradyot forgave own anger, and considered as him as brother.
