When you’ve finished designing the model, you can put it back to the existing database. Select “Synchronize to Database” in “File” from the menu. In Navicat Premium, you can convert the database type for the model. When you create a model for Oracle schema, you can change it to a model for MySQL database. Select “Model Conversion” in “File” from the menu and choose the desired database type and version. Navicat will convert fields to relevant field types, according to server type. You may need to change the SQL syntax of the views after the conversion.

Navicat provides a powerful tool to create models. Navicat Premium offers you the simple drag-and-drop usability to transfer data from one server type to another. An example of a drag and drop data transfer operation is the migrating of data from an Oracle server to a MySQL server. First, select those tables you wish to transfer and drag them to your desired server. Then, choose either to transfer those table structures with or without data. In this tutorial, we will show you how to copy a row, column, or group of cells by pasting the copied data in Navicat or other editing tools. The easiest way to select a row is to click on the row header. To select several rows that are next to each other, you can click the row header of the first row, and then click the last row while pressing the SHIFT key. To select rows that are not next to each other, hold the CTRL key and click the row header of each row you want to select. Selecting columns works the same way. For data pasting into other editing tools like Excel: First, open Excel. Then, place the cursor in anywhere you want, and paste the data into the spreadsheet by pressing CTRL+V or right-clicking on the popup menu. Now, we will show you how to select and copy a range of cells. You can drag on the first cell, and drop to the target cell easily.

Navicat enables you to highlight connections using different colors to identify different connections and their database objects. To highlight a connection, simply right-click on the connection, select “Color” and choose your preferred color from the popup menu. The color will then be displayed on the connection in the connection pane, and also the menu bar or the tab of its database object window.

Navicat allows you to back-up an entire server with all databases automatically by using the batch job feature. You can also set Navicat to send an email notification after the batch job has been completed. In this tutorial, we will show you how to setup a back-up schedule with an email notification. First, click “New Batch Job” to create a new batch job. In the design form, simply double-click the job to add it to the “Selected Jobs” area. Then, select the “Advanced” tab to set the email notification. Now check the “Send Email” option and enter the necessary information, such as sender, recipient and the SMTP Server. If your SMTP server requires authentication to send emails, you need to check the “Use Authentication” option and fill in the required information. You can send a test mail by clicking the “Send Test Mail” button.
