Mack the KnifeIt's hard to believe that this song came from a German opera, but it did. Die Dreigroschenoper, composed by Kurt Weill, premiered in Berlin in 1928. Known in English as The Threepenny Opera, the opera tells of robberies, murders, and other deadly deeds.
