Gangball is a new sport we improvised so that disabled/handicapped persons using wheelchairs could play, regardless of the level or severity of the disability. Basically, we toss a volleyball across a gym court and must enter goal posts like in soccer or hockey. When using the smaller ball one can lift and throw the ball; when using the larger ball it must stay on the floor and be pushed.
Whether a low level para or a high level quad in a motorized chair everyone in the "gang" can play, including family members, friends and assistants using spare wheelchairs. Able-bodied players cannot stand up or use their feet.
We are an inclusive group, non-violent and non-agressive. It's all about playing a game with a ball, not about winning or losing, or being better than anyone else. We don't keep score, and we relax the time and rules when a high level quad is holding the ball, to even the playing field. Peace out, everyone, and enjoy life.
