A few first tests along the way to check, what my new Aquos Shot 945SH can do. Nice toy, even the quality doesn't seem to match the new iPhone 4. I also took the chance to test some color gradings to check, how much the codec can stand. For all HD cams like this one too, using a tripod is best ... and the autofocus should be set on "manual" too, at least for landscape and far sceneries. What I missed in movie mode, is the ability to fix the ISO, whcih is possible for still pictures. Would help in low light situation, where the picture noise is quite terrible. However, it's fun playing around with it and I'll try to improve my workflow. The editing was done in FCP, which can not work with 3gp-files :-(( They have to be converted. I used Toast for that, but AIC for most of the shots. The ProRes codecs are better, I guess, what I will try next time. Hope, everybody enjoys watching this test.
