Moon Phase is a song in Harlegquins Enigma's new album Stargazer I. Rather than lying in the mild moon light, this song takes you to an unknown outer space. Run through the whole song, there are two sound lines. One of them is made up of short and tight notes, the other one is long and sustainable. The short notes bring the air of tension, the long one brings the feeling of vast. Through the change on volume and breaks, the two lines push forward each other and build the sense of space. Providing access to sustainable energy to an additional 500 million people by 2030. That's the aim of "Energizing Development", a new initiative unveiled by the European Commission on Monday. With a budget of 50 million euros, the EU will give technical advice to those developing countries who choose to participate in the programme.  Led by the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the plan also seeks to improve energy efficiency and double the amount of renewable energy currently used. The EU wants the private sector to get involved. To encourage companies to participate, Brussels will create guarantee schemes with banks to provide investors more assurance that their money is safe.  Mid and long-term private investment has been scarce. The European Commission on Monday unveiled its new so-called "bio-economy" strategy. The plan wants to see Europe's economy make a transition to a post-petroleum era.   By investing in innovation and technology, Europe hopes to develop cleaner and more sustainable ways to exploit its natural resources while at the same time creating jobs and staying competitive.

In the EU, the bio-economy already has a turnover of nearly 2 trillion euros and employs more than 22 million people.   The bio-economy is seen as an answer to the reduced availability of natural resources at a time that the global population continues to grow. Against that background, it’s necessary for the EU to establish a proper framework, says the EU’s Research and Innovation Commissioner.   

The current EU proposal is not binding. Critics say the EU needs to make available more funds if it wants agricultural, bio-based companies to start competing effectively with established energy multinationals such as the oil industry.

"Winemaking Contest": In this episode of "Get Lost in Loudoun," our challengers arrive at Sunset Hills Vineyard, just outside Purcellville. Less than an hour west of Washington, D.C., Loudoun is known as DC's Wine Country, and is the home of 30 wineries and tasting rooms, and wine is an important part of the Loudoun tourism experience. They meet two Loudoun winemakers, Lori Corcoran of Corcoran Vineyards, and Nate Walsh of Sunset Hills, who give them an overview their wineries and of Loudoun's wine country. Sustainable agriculture and collaboration are two concepts that drive the Loudoun wine experience and are helping to establish Loudoun as the wine country to experience on the East Coast. The competition today for our challengers is to create their own unique blend of wine using three popular Loudoun varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. They'll be judged on three criteria: taste, bottle presentation, and accuracy and creativity of their presentation of their wine to a Loudoun sommelier. But, they'll only have 15 minutes to create their wine, label and their presentation, so they'll have to work fast. In terms of hybrid drive systems, Toyota, the pioneer in sustainable mobility, has something completely new. Aqua. That’s the concept which Toyota claims will enable extremely fuel efficient driving. The car is said to make to with only one liter of fuel to cover a range between 35 and 40 kilometers. Some time this year it is expected to hit the domestic market, to follow in other countries afterwards then the Aqua to go by the name of Prius C. The GRNM Sports Hybrid Concept 2 is a hybrid sports coupé, one of the first in the world and which is also expected to make it as a production model. It passed its first tests at the gruelling 24 hour endurance race at the Nurburgring this year. A real piece of eye candy, but not destined for the European market, the latest version of the super luxury sedan, the Century.
