Trip on the Texas Eagle: Return Trip Austin SectionI didn't feel like editing this, so you get the entire near 7 minute shot I have for this part.
I took a Amtrak train to San Antonio from the stop 7 blocks from my apartment (pretty close isn't it) and then turned around and took the next one coming back. It was only 9 hours, but I had fun. I wish I had the Zi8 then.
This is the return trip back to my apartment. I have several, but I decided to post this first. This is in Austin going north. I end the video at the Austin stop.
Other than the out of focus shots, the dirty window and my pant leg, this is a pretty good video. The sun was rather low still, so you can see the water that dried on the window very easily. Anyone who has shot video from a dirty window knows what I'm talking about.
The trip was excellent. I recommend this to anyone. I didn't take a very long trip (only three stops there and back), but it was worth the $34 round-trip fare. The only thing I wish is that I we had a ticket office in town. I would have needed to go to Austin or Temple to get tickets. I was able to purchase them on the train, but it added a little extra trouble coming back. This is because I didn't get tickets, so they wanted to charge me another $17 when I had already paid the fare. However, it is much better than dealing with traffic, paying much more for fuel, and wear and tear on my truck. I would have spent more on gas one way than the entire round-trip fare. The trip added an extra hour. Not bad at all.
We are crossing the Colorado River, but here, it's also called Lady Bird Lake (formally Town Lake).
