High Tension (French: Haute tension, French pronunciation: [ot tɑ̃sjɔ̃]; released in the UK as Switchblade Romance) is a 2003 French horror film that was later released in 2004 in the UK and 2005 in the US and Canada. The film, directed by Alexandre Aja, stars Cécile de France, Maïwenn, and Philippe Nahon. High Tension was picked up by independent distributor Lions Gate Entertainment following a successful screening at the Midnight Madness section of the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival. Originally rated NC-17 in the U.S. for strong graphic violence, a few graphic shots were cut from the final version of the U.S. release to get it down to the R rating (the original NC-17 cut was released in some theaters), and the film was dubbed for commercial appeal. However, the original cut (referred to as an unrated version) is available on Blu-ray and DVD. All of the effects are created by renowned horror make-up artist Giannetto De Rossi, a favorite of late director Lucio Fulci.[3] High Tension has been associated with the New French Extremity movement.

First project ever in Toronto

Robert Nix's video for "Walk Down the Street" is one that's difficult to explain, but incredibly pleasing to watch. He is a post-contemporary composer, but his music is so much more. The video follows Nix as he records the various instruments in the song, creating a fully experimental and pop-rock fusion track. He throws in some cut scenes of himself walking aimlessly through his home-city of Toronto to represent the theme of his song; being lost. The cinematography supports the theme as well, as the dissonance of the shaky camera certainly makes the viewer feel a little lost. The compassion in his voice and power in his presence in the video allows the video to almost attain a sense of spirituality. All in all, this is a fantastic video from top to bottom. Robert Nix is a mastermind and he displays a true love for his craft. Teaming up with filmmaker Rohit "Badmash" Thakur was a terrific decision and "Badmash" certainly fulfilled his responsibilities. This project is a comparison of alternative media centers (AMCs) set up as part of the 2010 anti-Olympic convergence in Vancouver and the anti-G-20 protests in Toronto in the same year. It is made up of two parts: a video and a paper. The video introduces the idea of AMCs and explores the specific contexts of Vancouver and Toronto; it also compares the tactics and results of the two AMCs within these two sites. The paper portion delves into the definition of alternative media and the place of independent media centers (IMCs) within that, fleshing out the history of "media activism," with a particular focus on Vancouver and Toronto. It also addresses the methodology used to obtain the interviews and footage that were used to create the video.
