Demo of my Modified Fender Jaguar HH - 7-17-2009"Something a little different in Gretsch and Fender Land!" - 7-16-2009 ... Whoa, I hit upon something nice!, I love this "Fender Jaguar HH" Guitar I recently scored but I just wasn't wild about the sound, pickups, so I began thinking and experimenting so decided to try replacing the stock White Duncan pickups with some Gretsch Filtertrons from a 1996 Gretsch Double Anniversity Guitar. Well, it was a task beyond duty, via first enlarging the pickguard holes, putting in wood shims, foam underneath ,,, but the the hardest part, was trying to figure out the wiring logic? being that the stock Duncans in the HH were four conductor wires with another bare ground. After several trials, I figured out which was the proper Hot and Ground (black to hot:; green and bare to ground for the neck pup and Red to hot and green and bare to ground for the bridge pup ,,, and throw away the red and white wires) )and then which wires to which in all the mini circuits then I had trouble with one of the pups sounding weaker and buzzing horribly if you got near it. I finally figured out that it was those rollers in the Jaguar H Rhythm circuit that were playing a funny game and that I had to turn thm off. I still have to study that more! Very complicated wiring system! Anyway, Much to my suprise after I got it all together, I fell in love with this guitar! It just has something, a real sweet Gretsch like sound but all it's own! The bridge pup almost sounds like a soft Telecaster. Has the twang but sof and Gretsch like! And these are stock 90's Gretsch Pickups! I was thinking of trying different pups too but it sounds so good and has a character, that I'm keeping it stock, at least for awhile, maybe perm?,,, I have to test it out with the Band (Field Test) next. Anyway, wanted to share!, This may be one of my best sounding fave axes yet? Something different in Gretsch and Fender Land! Category: Music
