N1-7L was the fourth (the others were 3L, 5L and 6L) and last soviet attempt to test their 5-stage kerosene fueled moon rocket. This makes a rate of 100% failure.
All N1s crashed or exploded short after launch and always before first stage separation.
The N1-L3 launchpads and facilities in Baikonur cosmodrome were modified for Energia rocket. This rocket had only two launches (100% success) and was the carrier of the soviet space shuttle, the Buran, which only had one but successful unmanned flight. (more)
