During the Cuban Revolution Jeff and Bogg discover that the rebels are losing the war because Teddy Roosevelt was killed by Billy the Kid years ago. On their way to 1889, they meet Ben Franklin, who is having problems getting his kite to fly. In 1889, the Voyagers join Billy's gang and save Roosevelt's life, and in the process Jeffrey learns a valuable lesson in hero worship.
