Cambodia still retains its French colonial charm, beautiful countryside, and friendly, hospitable locals.
Cambodia is located between Thailand and Vietnam in southeast Asia. It is the successor state of the mighty Khmer Empire that ruled southeast Asia over 1000 years ago.
The Khmer Empire built the temples of Angkor Wat, which today are one of the greatest historical sites in the world.
The Khmer Empire was wiped out after multiple defeats by the Thais in the 12th century and the temples of Angkor were swallowed up by the jungle.
Present day Cambodia has seen more violence, bloodshed, poverty and famine than almost any country. It has been ravaged from non-stop violence by the French, the Vietnamese, the Americans, and by it’s own people-the Khmer Rouge.
