Synopsis:
A comedy-drama about a 30-something woman who's depressed about everything, from her job, to the lack of men in her life, to too much mother, and who finds salvation in the unlikeliest place.
After years of looking, Sophia has finally gotten a job teaching tough blue-collar college kids literature. She is terrified by the prospect, terrified by the other professors who treat her with condescension, terrified by the students who mostly ignore her. In summary, she is terrified of everything in her life.
On her first day going to work, she is locked out of her apartment, involved in a car accident, late for class and humiliated by the department chairperson. A typical day. The only respite from all of this is her best friend, Emily, who is pregnant and a successful TV producer. Emily is sure of herself and sure of everything and everyone. She knows how to fix any problem. That, of course, depresses Sophia even more, plus lots more.
