Synopsis: 1916: World War I rages across Europe. A group of young Americans, each for their own personal reasons, travel across the water to assist their French counterparts in their fight against the Germans. Just a decade after the birth of powered flight, and under the tutelage of Captain Thenault (Reno) and flying ace Cassidy (Henderson), the young men take to the skies in fragile biplanes to become America’s first ever Fighter Pilots.
Whilst the flying is exhilarating, for Blaine Rawlings (Franco) and his comrades, the realisation of the fragility of their own lives brings the men together in a story of comradeship and solidarity. In addition to the loss of his squadron friends, Rawlings also has to deal with the potential loss of Lucienne (Decker), the beautiful French girl with whom he’s fallen in love.
Based on a true story, FLYBOYS is the epic tale of the Lafayette Escadrille, a group of real, American heroes.
