Broadway actor Richard Carlson takes a deranged starring role in Tormented, a campy cinematic treat from the late fifties. Tormented has all the appetizing horror movie essentials: disembodied heads, vengeful ghosts, and clever low budget effects. A ordinary breakup takes a turn for the macabre: Vi (Julie Reding) and Tom (Carlson) are having a hellacious argument when Vi accidentally falls from several stories high. Tom, feeling free to pursue other women, plans a wedding with his new sweetheart. Little does he know that Vi’s angry ghost, complete with floating limbs and the ability to fly, is not happy with Tom! Actually touching on ideas of morality and afflicted conscience, Tormented entertains from start to finish with a fine blend of action and intrigue.
