"Street of Dreams" is the personal portrait of this street and its history. With scenes of everyday life and interviews, the film reflects the experiences, dreams and hopes of the inhabitants. The memories and opinions of several generations present a clear picture of a black ghetto in the USA. Harrison Avenue was the center of Black business and nightlife in the small city of Inkster near Detroit, Michigan. Now the bars, hotels, restaurants and shops are a depressing collection of ruins, deserted houses and wasteland. In between, there are few houses, churches and a handful of small shops. The lives of the people on this street are ruled by unemployment, alcohol, drugs and crime. Harrison Avenue is their place of refuge.
