Bill Roth's Some Assembly Required is a patchwork glimpse into the slightly manic process of self-concoction, as undertaken by a girl who's not really there to start out with. She's hollow, or weirdly invisible, or just out of sync with the rest of the world around her, and she tries to get real by accessorizing herself one artificial piece at a time, like a mosaic. At least that's what this short film looks like to me. You may see something entirely different. The fact that all of the visual and audio ingredients have been assimilated and transformed from somewhere else adds to the message, as does the cheerfully attention-deficit original soundtrack composed by Bill.
