Lorraine Kay has been told by her physician that she has less than a year to live. Her diabetes is out of control and she has congestive heart failure. But her primary care physician and her surgeon are at odds for the best course of treatment. Her primary care physician wants a gastric bypass because he thinks she won't lose weight fast enough to survive the year with a Lap Band. Her surgeon won't perform a gastric bypass because he doesn't think she'll survive the surgery. He does think she's well enough for the laparascopic Lap Band surgery though. After a few days of discussions, the Lap Band is agreed upon and Lorraine lives to tell the story.
