Raul Ruiz presents two of his films adapted from Pierre Klossowki's works: 'The Suspended Vocation' (1977) and 'The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting' (1979). Novelist, essayist, translator and painter Pierre Klossowski (1905-2001) was one of the most singular figures in 20th century French thought and writing. He befriended Georges Bataille and formulated an original stance on many theological issues, as well as the philosophy of the Marquis de Sade. By the 1970s, he had won the acclaim of eminent thinkers such as Maurice Blanchot, Michel Butor, Gilles Deleuze or Michel Foucault.
