I poked it with a stick. Out bled this weird looking fluid that seemed to pulsate in different colours. Living viscous blood seemed to crawl out as it was so alive; it was the light around it too. The light and sounds from the ocean were pulsating the same way. The pulses weren't too fast - weren't too slow; it was just enough to hold my gaze into the water. A face was hidden behind the waves in the horizon.
I was paralysed - couldn't move. The waves from the ocean came closer - and closer. I forget if I was scared. I remember counting the waves: 1,.. 2,.. 3,.. The water washed over me, deeper and deeper. Then the ninth wave came as I heard the voice in the distance...
