The Kansas Jayhawks won their third NCAA Basketball Championship after defeating the Memphis Tigers 75-68 on Monday. The game was close from the start but with just under two minutes left Memphis began to pull away . Kansas battled back and relied on a strategy of fouling since Memphis struggled with free throws throughout the season, making just over half of them. The strategy paid off and with a few seconds left in the game, Kansas was only down by 3. Kansas star Mario Chalmers shot a heavily contested three pointer with 2 seconds left. It somehow went in and tied the game. Kansas used their momentum to take over the extra period and secure the win. The loss was only the second one this season for Memphis, which won an NCAA-record 38 games this season.
