Prior to becoming the most popular Canadian female rock singer in the 1980s, Luba sang with a Ukrainian group. They did traditional songs in a 1970s pop-rock style. The name of that group was Zoria, meaning star, featuring Lubomyra. Her name is Lubomyra Kowalchuk, and they were from the Montreal area.
