The Chrism Mass, held in the Diocese's Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Paterson NJ, is celebrated by Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli on the morning of Holy Thursday.
In this mass, the Bishop blesses and consecrates the three oils - the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism - for distribution to parishes throughout the Church of Paterson. Also celebrating the institution of the Eucharist and of the Priesthood, the Diocesan Presbyteriate meets to renew their priestly promises.
