A brief bit from an NHK show about African people and culture in Japan. This was the first thing I saw when I turned on the hotel TV. Reminded me of the delight at seeing a program about Mali on NHK back in September. I stopped it, though, because they went from presenting the diversity of foods and dress to the spread of AIDS. Obviously, it's a terrible affliction and burden for millions, but I was a little leery about the presentation of victimhood.
As it turned out, though, the segment that followed featured several orphaned students who were part of a performing arts troupe.
