The singing cowboy Gene Autry plays two characters in this film, himself and his own stunt man. When Gene Autry the star canât make an appearance at the Texas Centennial Fair, his stunt man must go instead. When Autry the stunt man is heard singing in the stable, he is broadcast over the radio and becomes an instant hit. The trouble is, everyone thinks heâs Gene Autry, including the mobsters who Autry owes some money. They go after the hapless stuntman, as does Autry himself. Other mistaken identity hilarity is also present in the confusion of two female admirers of Autry/stunt man. All is settled in the end by a good old-fashioned fistfight and Autry and his stunt man come out on top.
